ESCONDIDO, CA — Huckleberry’s Breakfast and Lunch, a restaurant packing Cajun and Creole flair, has opened its first San Diego-area location in Escondido.

With a “Southern Cookin’ with a California Twist” tagline, the eatery offers such dishes as fried green tomatoes, grits, okra, Monte Cristo and shrimp po' boy sandwiches, Cajun-style eggs and andouille sausage, Creole-style catfish, chicken and waffles, jambalaya rice and Mardi Gras beignets.

Huckleberry’s is a fast-growing franchise, founded in 2008 with 25 locations primarily in northern and central California, plus an additional six to eight planned for 2022 and another dozen or so in 2023, company officials said.
