• Family files claim against Fairfield, cops after teen punched during school arrest (ktvu.com) — A Fairfield family has filed a legal claim accusing two city police officers of using excessive force while detaining a 16-year-old student at Fairfield High School on May 20. One officer has been reassigned, an outside agency is investigating, and the police chief has publicly apologized as the community watches for possible next steps. 
• Fairfield homicide suspect makes first court appearance (thereporter.com) — A 70-year-old Fairfield resident has been charged in connection with a fatal shooting that left a 43-year-old man dead in a Fairfield neighborhood, and he’s now begun moving through Solano County’s court system. Police say detectives quickly identified and arrested the suspect, who remains jailed without bail while investigators continue to withhold details about what led up to the shooting.
