The International Order of the Rainbow for Girls in California selected the Barry R. Kirshner Wildlife Sanctuary and Education Center as this years Grand Service Project. Rainbow Girls dedicate themselves to the act of service raising over a million dollars in the past ten years. Their reward for this commitment is that indescribable feeling within one's heart, so that others may thrive.
Rainbow Girls from Roseville and Auburn proudly presented Miss Shelby Zimmerman, Grand Worthy Advisor, $1,905 during the District’s recent Official Visit. This donation will go directly towards the Wildlife Sanctuary with the total amount growing throughout the year.
The Sanctuary was founded in 1994, a 24-hour nonprofit care facility operating with only volunteer staff. Located in the heart of Butte County, it is the only sanctuary of its kind in California. The mission of The Sanctuary is to educate the public about the care and preservation of all wildlife and their habitats, locally and globally. Home to a remarkable variety of endangered, and exotic animals with “special needs” and described as non-releasable back into their natural environment. The animals allow the public the awe-inspiring opportunity to witness first-hand their beauty and how to respect animals in the wild and their part in the natural ecosystem. More information can be found on their website at http://kirshner.org/.
