Fair Oaks Rotary to Hold Annual Crab Feed Saturday

The Fair Oaks Rotary Crab Feed this Saturday is the primary fundraising event for the year to help support local and international projects.

The Fair Oaks Rotary Club will present its 22nd annual crab feed this Saturday, Feb. 11 at the Divine Savior Church located at 9079 Greenback Lane beginning at 5:30 p.m.

The crab feed is the club's main fundraising event for the year and helps support many local community activities like the dictionary distribution and international efforts like polio eradication. Anyone can help support the crab feed by purchasing mega-draw tickets from any local Rotarian or by calling in-coming president Mike Maddox at 916-765-2567.

Most recently FORC completed its annual dictionary distribution at Northridge Elementary School. Last week the club distributed dictionaries to all third grade students at Northridge and will do the same at Earl LeGette elementary before the end of the month. This project is part of Rotary’s worldwide effort to promote literacy.

Rotary is an international organization that has clubs around the world helping local communities. The club has partnered with other rotary clubs around the world to provide disaster relief, fund sewing machines in Africa, and members also contribute to the worldwide effort to eradicate polio. The Rotary International Foundation has partnered with the Gates Foundation to eradicate polio, and our Club members have even gone to Africa and administered polio vaccine.

People who live or work in the Fair Oaks area can learn more about Rotary by attending one of the Club’s dinner meetings most Monday nights at 6:45 in the basement meeting room of the Fair Oaks Community Clubhouse in Fair Oaks Village. Guests will hear an interesting speaker and enjoy a free dinner. For more information contact Alice Rowe at 916-541-1248.
