Officers started receiving calls reporting the wrong-way driver on the bridge at about 2:35 a.m. Friday as the vehicle was traveling south in the northbound lanes of the bridge. CHP officials said the driver, Sacramento resident Elnoa Nainoka, exited the Vista Point parking lot on the northeast side of the bridge and turned south into the northbound lanes.
As officers responded, Nainoka allegedly made a u-turn and started traveling north in the northbound lanes.

Responding officers turned south at the end of the bridge and tried to catch up with Nainoka. Drivers were calling CHP with updated locations for Nainoka and reporting that she was driving erratically. Callers provided the vehicle’s license plate number and with the updated locations officers were able to find Nainoka as she was traveling on Redwood Highway Frontage Road.
Officers stopped Nainoka on Redwood Highway Frontage Road, north of state Highway 131 in unincorporated Marin County. Officers said she showed signs of intoxication and they started a DUI investigation.
The investigation led officers to believe Nainoka had been driving under the influence of alcohol. They arrested her and booked her into the Marin County Jail on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol, driving under the influence of alcohol over the .08 percent blood alcohol level, and driving while unlicensed.
Officials with the CHP’s Marin Area Office will recommend Nainoka face an additional penalty for driving with a blood alcohol level of more than .15 percent if she is convicted of the three misdemeanor counts.
