• June 19: SCAA Plein Air Painting at Otto & Sons Nursery (scvnews.com) — Artists and art lovers can head to Otto & Sons Nursery in Fillmore on Friday, June 19, for a relaxed outdoor plein air painting session hosted by the Santa Clarita Artists Association. The free gathering runs from 9 a.m. to noon, with plenty of scenic nursery views for inspiration. Just show up with your supplies, but be aware the event will be canceled if severe weather is forecast. 
• California Assembly District 38 primary race results (vcstar.com) — Fillmore voters are part of California’s 38th Assembly District, where incumbent Steve Bennett holds a strong lead over challenger Michael MacDonald in the June 2 primary. Early returns show Bennett with about 70% of the vote, but both Democrats will still advance to the November general election under California’s top-two system.
