Experience at San Mateo Kaiser Permanente Medical Centre

Who wouldn’t love to have her hospital just a mile away from home? Earlier, by public transport I used to take about 2 hours to reach the Redwood City Kaiser Permanente. Now all thanks to its new Medical Centre set up near the San Mateo Police Dept. at Intersection East Hillsdale and Saratoga Drive, it takes me just a couple of minutes in the Foster City Shuttle to reach my destination, saving me so much on time. 

Although it saved me on tons of time because of the convenient location, it took all the more greater time to process the task at hand. I went there hoping that it will be fast in service, but it seemed as if they were still working towards getting things in place. The plentiful staff was helpful but was still trying to figure out stuff. When I went in to ask for some authorization forms I was told that it would take 2 -4 weeks to get the processing done. However I was also suggested that the same task would be complete in a speedier way if I would go to the Redwood City Kaiser Permanente Medical Centre.The delay at San Mateo Kaiser Permanente Medical Centre was because the staff member was not trained in complete, to process the forms. Since it was urgent, I said,” Ok, then as per your suggestion I’ll rather get it done in Redwood City Facility.”

When I went to Redwood City Medical Centre, I got to learn about another funny change that a patient was going through,which coincidently linked to the new Kaiser Permanente. The doctor whom she got treated from, in her own words, her ‘favorite’ doctor, had been transferred from the Redwood City Kaiser Permanente to the San Mateo Medical Centre and that now, she had to do this tedious job of re-reading about the doctors and finalizing on another, after losing out on the first.

This doesn’t mean that I am complaining about its staff service as it was at its best. Hopefully the New Kaiser Permanente Medical Centre at San Mateo will speedup up processing the tasks as it has been quite some time now since its setup!
