Foster City Energy Customers Saved $954, 000 In 2018, City Says
The savings is due to the switch to Peninsula Clean Energy, officials say.
From Foster City: City of Foster City customers saved $954,000 on their electricity bills in 2018 with Peninsula Clean Energy (PCE), while also earning national recognition for their commitment to renewable energy.
“Our City Council voted three years ago to form Peninsula Clean Energy so that customers can enjoy cleaner energy at lower rates. We are proud to deliver on that promise,” said Councilmember Catherine Mahanpour, City of Foster City Councilmember who represents the City on Peninsula Clean Energy’s Board of Directors. “We are helping to improve our environment and providing residents with benefits that not only include a better environment, but also provide electricity at a lower cost as well as incentives to increase the awareness of the benefits of renewable energy.”
Peninsula Clean Energy consistently sets its rates at 5% below PG&E’s electricity generation rates for its ECOplus product, resulting in millions of dollars of savings annually across its 290,000 customers. More than 97 percent of San Mateo County households and businesses purchase their electricity through Peninsula Clean Energy, and collectively saved an estimated $18 million in 2018.
