Foster City Festival to Showcase Polynesian Culture
Foster City's Ninth Annual Pacific Islands Festival will be held on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Leo Ryan Park Amphitheater.
Cultural performances from award-winning professional Polynesian Dance companies from throughout the Bay Area will be featured later this week at Foster City's Parks and Recreation Department’s Ninth Annual Pacific Islands Festival.
The free event will feature cultural activities, arts and crafts booths, canoe rides, and food and refreshments.
Ehulani’s ‘Ote’a/Kaulana Na Pua O Hawaii of Hayward, Kawailehua Hula Ohana (Milpitas), Merahi o Tehani (Union City), Motu’aina (Danville), Rahiti (Daly City), Tamarii Matairea and Te Poly Nui (both of Stockton) will be among the event's featured performers.

The event also features an educational component, with the true meaning of the words such as ‘tatau’ (tattoo) explained to visitors. Decorative designs showcasing the differences between the island groups will be displayed.
The Parks and Recreation Department is putting on the event, which will be held on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Leo Ryan Park Amphitheater.
