Godzilla Threatens Tokyo with the Ultimate Beat Down

In an exclusive interview with Tokyo Lifestyles Magazine; Godzilla threatened the destruction of Tokyo, next Tuesday, during the morning commute: if the government calls him, “a big dumb lizard—one more time!” Of course this is fictional; Tokyo Lifestyles magazine does not exist.  So, here we are in the so called modern marketing world; with content marketing, blogs, content publishing, SEO, marketing automation systems up the yahoo and endless email marketing systems and strategies.  You have to ask yourself: what would Godzilla do? Not even Godzilla could destroy this gobbledygook of theory of how to engage and capture new business.  Or could he?  It could be the classic male stoner conversation topic; if he can’t eat it: he doesn’t care about it.

Your Content is only as Good as Your Headline

In the content marketing pantheon of theory and practice; one of the major topics of content writing is the headline.  Now if you make a practice of “studying” the various leaders of the craft, the headline is as important, if not more important than the content.  It as if the craft of writing a headline for content was something new.  I believe that newspapers, going back to the start of newspapers; were the “inventors” of the catchy headline teaser.  The classic street urchin, in countless movies, shouting out—“Two Headed Man can’t make a Decision!” “Hey Mister, read all about it!”

Structuring Presentations in a Content Marketing Format—It Works!

This format that you are reading—hopefully—is considered in this new age for content marketing: the agreed upon—state of the art.  A catchy headline:  with a following single topic paragraph.  It is designed for modern human consumption; meaning our limited ability to concentrate for any period of time.   A good exercise—mental and manual—is to take all of your services and products and write a headline for them: individually.  Try to create multiple tones: corporate, functional and most important—humorous.  One of the greatest TV and print campaign ads ever—Volkswagen’s: “Isn’t That Wonderful?”   Taking the Beetle’s basic functions: go fast, go slow, turn right, turn left, back-up and stop: with a voice over at the end saying, “Isn’t That Wonderful.” It created beauty and humor in the Beetle’s basic functions.  A great creative lesson in: product presentation about basic functionality.

If You Make Me Hate You—I Will Never Buy Your Stuff and Will Tell Everyone: About It!

Volkswagen became hugely successful in America; because that campaign made you like them; and could only make you feel good about buying their product. So marketing is easy—do things to make people like you and your product or service.  Short, creative, humorous presentations that make me want to get involved with you: because I like you! Without like: No Deal. Period. End of story!
