Man Smacked Bystander With Metal Rod In Unprovoked Attack: San Mateo Police
The victim sustained injuries to his face in the unprovoked attack, police said.
SAN MATEO, CA — A 26-year-old man was arrested early Friday he reportedly struck another person in the face with a collapsible metal rod, police said.
Officers with the San Mateo Police Department responded about 12:26 a.m. to the 1300 block of Saratoga Drive on a report of an assault with a deadly weapon.
When officers arrived, they detained the suspect and contacted an adult victim who had a visible facial injury, according to San Mateo PD.

Investigators said Devan King Sr., of Redwood City, approached the victim and, without provocation, allegedly struck them in the face with a collapsible metal rod.
Witnesses at the scene corroborated the victim's account, police said.

King was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon not a firearm and booked into the San Mateo County Jail.
