Micha Biton to Perform at Israeli Independence Day Bash in Foster City
PJCC's "Yom Ha'Atzmaut" celebration commemorates Israel's 1948 independence declaration.

The will celebrate Israeli Independence Day in grand fashion with festivities that will feature the performance of a renowned Israeli recording artist.
Micha Biton, the event's main attraction, is a folk/rock singer and composer whose "SheYavo" became the unofficial anthem for Gilad Shalit, an Israeli soldier released last year in a prison swap with Palestinians.
Other festivities will include arts and crafts, a puppet show, dance, a community mural painting of Israel, and a mock "shuk" (Israeli market) where the works of Israeli and Jewish artists will be sold.

Yom Ha'atzmaut commemorates Israel's 1948 declaration of Independence and is preceded by Yom Hazikaron, a somber day of remembrance that pays tribute to fallen Israeli soldiers and terror victims.
For American Jews, Yom Ha'atzmaut celebrations represent an expression of solidarity with Israel.

The PJCC expects a crowd of approximately 600-800 to attend a "Yom Ha’Atzmaut" celebration that the center is billing as one of the largest Peninsula Jewish community gatherings.
The free event will be held on April 26 from 5 to 9 p.m. and is open to the public.
