Share Your Memories of Ron Cox

Former Foster City Mayor and longtime Lions Club member Ron Cox passed away on Saturday. He was 61.

Cox lived in Foster City for 24 years, and dedicated himself to the community. Despite his medical issues, Cox remained active in the Foster City community until his death, helping collect $14,000 to keep the Fourth of July fireworks show alive at Leo Ryan Park just two weeks ago.

"His last community accomplishment was the fireworks display for the fourth," Mayor Linda Koelling said. "When it seemed that the council was leaning towards not having the fireworks this year, Ron eloquently voiced his opinion about that  and with the help of the Lions Club they raised money to help offset the cost for the day."

Cox was a member of the City Council from 2000 to 2007, and served as mayor three times. As mayor, he championed the concept of a fair mayoral rotation, despite having his own first term as mayor shortened because of it.
