Anaheim Bank Robbery Ends After 1 Hour Hostage Situation

A bank robbery in Anaheim may have included a hostage situation. The joint effort was handled by Anaheim Police and Fullerton police depts.

UPDATE: Anaheim resident Pablo Arteaga, a 22-year-old, was arrested at the scene of the Wells Fargo Bank robbery on June 27.

Sources say that he did not possess a weapon and did not obtain any money from the bank.

The motive for the robbery is under investigation.

Anaheim, CA-- A bank robbery at a Wells Fargo branch on N. Raymond Ave. has been foiled, according to reports.

This morning, at just before 9:15 a.m. the Wells Fargo branch at 1662 N. Raymond Ave. was reported--with statements that hostages may have been inside.

City News Service reported a barricade situation inside the bank according to Anaheim police Sgt. Daron Wyatt.


"The suspect, who was in a barricade situation, surrendered to police just after 10 a.m.," Wyatt said. "It was not immediately known how long he was negotiating with police."

Fullerton police responded to the scene to help with traffic, Fullerton police Sgt. Kathryn Hamel said.
