DUI Checkpoint in Fountain Valley: Holiday Patrols Got Results, Police Say

A DUI checkpoint resulted in multiple citations, arrests and vehicle impoundments, Fountain Valley Police say.

FOUNTAIN VALLEY, CA —The Fountain Valley Police Department announced results from their recent Holiday Weekend DUI checkpoint.

In an effort to reduce the number of persons killed and injured in alcohol and drug involved traffic collisions, the Fountain Valley Police Department conducted a DUI/Driver’s License checkpoint on Friday, December 16th from 9 p.m. until 3 a.m. the Police Department said in recent release.

"The checkpoint was on Warner Avenue at the intersection of Magnolia Avenue, in the City of Fountain Valley," Fountain Valley Police Department Sgt. Steve DeSantis said. "A total of 701 vehicles traveled through the checkpoint and officers were able to contact 687 of the drivers."

Here are the results of the checkpoint:

  • 1 driver arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol
  • 1 driver arrested for felony vehicle theft
  • 11 drivers were issued citations for being an unlicensed and/or suspended driver
  • 4 vehicles were towed and/or impounded.

Funding for this operation was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
