Fountain Valley DUI Checkpoint Nets No Drunk Drivers
The drivers of Fountain Valley get a gold star for safety. Of more than 800 drivers in the checkpoint, none were drunk.

In an effort to reduce the number of persons killed and injured in alcohol involved traffic collisions, the Fountain Valley Police Department conducted a DUI/Drivers License checkpoint on Friday, December 19th from 9pm until 3am. The checkpoint was on Brookhurst at the intersection of Heil Avenue, in the City of Fountain Valley.
A total of 1064 vehicles traveled through the checkpoint and officers were able to contact 802 of the drivers. No drivers were arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol. Three drivers were issued citations for being an unlicensed and/or suspended driver. No vehicles were impounded. Funding for this operation was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
