Fountain Valley Embezzlement Suspect Pleads 'Not Guilty'

A Fountain Valley business suffered embezzlement of over $250,000 but this Oakland man charged with the crime says he didn't take it.

FOUNTAIN VALLEY, CA — Though charged with embezzling over $250,000 from a Fountain Valley business, an Oakland man pleaded not guilty Wednesday from a Fountain Valley company where he worked.

David Ly Nguyen, 49, was charged Aug. 21 with grand theft, burglary and multiple other felony and misdemeanor counts for allegedly stealing checks sent to the company, Mariso, from Nov. 8 to Nov. 28 of last year. He also faces sentencing enhancement allegations for white-collar crime between $100,000 to $500,000 and property damage exceeding $200,000.

Nguyen had access to checks sent to the food wholesaler and pocketed them, Deputy District Attorney Tina Patel alleged.

Nguyen was ordered to return to court Dec. 21 for a pretrial hearing.
