• Teen critically injured in e‑moto crash in west OC (newsantaana.com) — A 14‑year‑old Fountain Valley boy is in critical but stable condition after his e‑motorcycle collided with a turning vehicle at Talbert Avenue and Second Street on August 27. Police say drugs and alcohol don't appear involved and are asking witnesses to call the FVPD Traffic Bureau, while county officials warn parents about illegal e‑motos and mounting legal and financial risks. 
• Esperanza football holds off Fountain Valley at the end to secure victory (fresnobee.com) — Fountain Valley High's football team came up just short in a defensive battle, falling 9-3 to Esperanza in Yorba Linda after a final-play pass into the end zone was broken up. The Barons' offense managed only a late field goal despite key catches by running back Trenton Farr, while two Esperanza coordinators with Fountain Valley roots helped engineer a shutdown defensive game plan.
