Fountain Valley Fire In Townhouse Sends One To Hospital

A fire that began in a bedroom of a Fountain Valley townhouse woke neighbors on South Harmon, Tuesday morning.

FOUNTAIN VALLEY, CA — Smoke and flames roused a home in Fountain Valley in the early hours of Tuesday morning. Orange County Fire Authority and Fountain Valley Fire Department responded to the scene of a multi-family structure on the 600 block of South Harmon Street, according to OCFA Capt. Larry Kurtz.

"The first unit on scene found the two-story townhouse with a fire in a back bedroom," Kurtz said. "Firefighters were able to knock down the blaze in under 15 minutes."

The damage to the home was isolated to the bedroom where the fire began, Kurtz told Patch.

Three adults were displaced due to the burned room and moderate smoke damage to the home. One woman was taken to the hospital, presumably from smoke inhalation, according to Kurtz. There was an estimated $50,000 in property damages and $50,000 damage done to contents of the home. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

The American Red Cross was on scene to assist the displaced people, and other units in the town home complex were not affected by the fire, Kurtz said.
