In 1974, President Ford authorized EMS Week to celebrate EMS practitioners and the important work they do in our nation’s communities. Thank you to the EMS professionals on the frontline of the COVID-19 pandemic. We are thankful for these individuals, facing this pandemic everyday - planning, adapting and responding to take care of their citizens and communities.
The 2020 theme for EMS Week - which was decided before the pandemic - is Ready Today. Preparing for Tomorrow. In addition to medical calls/services related to COVID-19, EMS professionals continue to provide outstanding service, responding to the everyday emergencies in our community. These frontline workers do these things, all while dealing with challenges such as lack of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and dealing with fellow workers who have contracted the virus. Now more than ever it is important that we honor and celebrate our EMS professionals who are supporting the health and well-being of all of us.
