Parks Make Life Better In Fountain Valley: Rehab At These Parks
Parks make life better in Fountain Valley, and when the grass is greener, everyone is happier. Here is what is planned for spring.

FOUNTAIN VALLEY, CA — It is park cleanup time once again, and after the drought has taken a toll on area parks, the city is at last providing grass for the McDowell and Nieblas Parks according to Fountain Valley's City Manager Bob Hall.
"McDowlell and Nieblas Parks will get some tender loving care during the next several months," Hall said in recent release.
"Weather permitting, the turf rehabilitation will continue through April," he said.

The first step in turf rehab is a "drill and fill" process. Thousands of 1.25-inch diameter holes that are 8-inches deep will be drilled and filled with sand to encourage deeper root growth and moisture retention.
"After the drill and fill is complete, the area will be hydroseeded," Hall said.

A temporary fence will be installed around the area during this phase to protect the area and give the new grass a chance to establish.
"The temporary fencing will remain up until late April and will only limit access to the areas of turf that are being rehabilitated," he said. "Playground equipment will be accessible throughout all phases of the project."
