ANAHEIM, CA – A 27-year-old woman accused in a knife-wielding conflict with officers near Disneyland pleaded not guilty today to attempted murder on a police officer and assault charges.
Officers instructed Stephanie Monica Sykes to pull over about 10 p.m. last Thursday for a routine traffic violation at Katella Avenue and Harbor Boulevard. But instead of pulling to the side of the road, she stopped in the middle of the street, said Anaheim police Sgt. Daron Wyatt.
When the officers asked her to get out of her car, she initially refused then allegedly jumped out while wielding a knife and began slashing at them, Wyatt alleged.
