Two schools were placed on lockdown while Santa Ana police helicopters and officers on the ground searched for a machete wielding suspect.

SANTA ANA, CA — Two schools—Edison Elementary School and Chavez High School— were placed on lockdown status Tuesday until police tracked down a man who was allegedly threatening people with a machete in Santa Ana. Both schools were released from lockdown shortly before noon.
Police were alerted about 11 a.m., Santa Ana police Cpl. Anthony Bertagna said.
"We got a call of a guy threatening people with a machete, DUKE our overhead helicopter led responding officers to where the suspect walked away," Bertagna said. "When he walked away from a group, the helicopter followed him until officers on the ground could corral the suspect."
