2 Arrests For Fatal Fremont Shooting

A Fremont woman and an Oakland man have been arrested in the case.

FREMONT, CA — Fremont Police have arrested two suspects in the shooting death of a man, they reported on Thursday. The victim's name is not yet available. The suspects are 25-year-old Nyla Turner of Fremont and 26-year-old Darreis Buckley of Oakland.

At 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, officers responded to a "shots fired" report near the 3100 block of Medina Common. Fremont Fire medical personnel attempted life-saving measures on the man, who had suffered multiple gunshot wounds, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Patrol officers along with members of the Investigative unit, Major Crimes Unit, and Crime Reduction Unit interviewed witnesses to the shooting. Turner was arrested on suspicion of murder and conspiracy to commit murder.

A second suspect, called the primary suspect by police, was tentatively identified based on witness statements, surveillance footage, and additional evidence. He was arrested Wednesday at a home near the 1000 block of 16th Street in Oakland on suspicion of murder and for being a felon in possession of a gun.

The case against Buckley and Turner will be presented to the Alameda County District Attorney’s Office for formal charges on Friday.
