2 Stolen Vehicles Caught By License Plate Readers In Fremont

Both were captured this week, Fremont Police say.

FREMONT, CA — Fremont Police recovered two stolen vehicles this week, with the use of automated license plate readers, the department reports via Twitter.

The first was on Wednesday afternoon in the area of Pacific Commons Shopping Center. According to the tweet, "The vehicle fled and a short pursuit ensued onto (southbound interstate highway) 880. The suspects fled on foot when the car stopped and were detained quickly."

Then, on Thursday night, officers were alerted to a stolen vehicle in the area of Automall Parkway and Christy Drive. Fremont Police tweeted, "A high-risk stop was conducted and several well-known probationers were contacted inside the vehicle. A 28 year old man was arrested."
