IDs: 2 Children, Woman Killed In Crash On I-880 In Fremont
Another 4 children, 1 adult are hospitalized including an infant in critical condition.

FREMONT, CA — Three people were killed in a horrific crash on I-880 in Fremont Tuesday night. Another five people were injured, four of whom are juveniles including an infant. Those who died have been identified as 39-year-old Noelle Johnson, 9-year-old was Brooke Limas and 14-year-old Christy Limas, all from Manteca
Dang Nguyen Hai Tran, 21, of San Jose was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of marijuana. He's accused of causing the 5 vehicle crash, which forced the complete closure of northbound traffic for nine hours, from 9:30 p.m. to 6:30 a.m.
The driver who was arrested was reported to have been driving recklessly and at a high rate of speed prior to the collision, the CHP said.

“Last night, a driver under the influence of marijuana was involved in a traffic collision which resulted in the senseless deaths of three members of the Bay Area community, two of whom were children.” CHP’s Chief of Golden Gate Division, Ernie Sanchez, said. “Recreational use of marijuana may be legal, but driving under the influence of marijuana is NOT….and we continue to see the consequences.”

The CHP released statistics showing that if current trends continue, DUI-marijuana arrests in the Bay Area will be up by 70% over last year by the end of 2018. Sanchez continued, “Prevention and Prosecution of Driving Under the Influence of Marijuana cannot be the CHP’s concern alone, it must become a priority for communities and governmental stakeholders alike."

The crash happened at Stevenson Boulevard. Traffic was diverted off the highway at Auto Mall Parkway. Initially, traffic was backed up to the CHP scales until vehicles could be cleared away.
