1. Police Arrest Suspect Following Shooting In Fremont (patch.com) — Fremont residents may notice increased police activity after officers arrested a suspect in a Wednesday evening shooting near Corrigan and Eggers drives. Investigators used witnesses, surveillance video, and their Real Time Information Center to track a vehicle to San Jose, where they made the arrest. The victim was later found at home with injuries that were not life-threatening.
2. Seeking To Improve Traffic Safety, Fremont Police To Crack Down On Windshield Tint (patch.com) — Drivers in Fremont should expect stricter enforcement of illegal windshield tint over the next few weeks as police focus on improving traffic safety. After a recent multi-agency operation that produced more than 400 citations, officers say tinted windshields create real hazards by increasing glare, reducing visibility, and complicating traffic stops. Keeping front windshields clear is a key part of their safety message to the community.
3. This California city is officially the happiest in America — thanks to high income levels and strong social and mental well-being (secretlosangeles.com) — Fremont residents are being recognized nationally, with a new WalletHub study naming the city the happiest in the United States thanks to strong incomes, low divorce rates, and high life expectancy. The report highlights Fremont’s unusually low levels of depression and frequent mental distress, suggesting strong social support and community ties that set it apart from most other large American cities.
4. Two Men Sentenced for Rape of St. Cloud State Student in Dorm Room (knsiradio.com) — A 21-year-old man from Fremont has been sentenced to 12 years in a Minnesota prison for sexually assaulting a St. Cloud State University student in her dorm room in 2024. Another man from New York received an eight-year sentence. The Fremont resident was arrested in Fremont in early 2025 and extradited to Minnesota, and both men must register as predatory offenders.
