Today's riddle: What is clean when it is black and dirty when it is white? 🤔 (Answer below!)
• Election 2026: Wahab, Hernandez face off in Dublin debate for Congressional District 14 (mercurynews.com) — Fremont voters are in the spotlight as Rep. Aisha Wahab and BART board president Melissa Hernandez spar over housing, healthcare, public safety and outside AIPAC-linked spending in their first debate for Congressional District 14. The district includes Fremont and other South Alameda and Tri-Valley communities, and local residents at the Dublin event voiced sharply different views on each candidate's record, independence and approach to crime.
• Election 2026: House control is up for grabs. Bay Area seats look safely Democratic (eastbaytimes.com) — Fremont voters will again see Rep. Ro Khanna on the ballot this November, as he defends his 17th District seat stretching from southern Fremont through Milpitas, north San Jose and Sunnyvale. A broader look at Bay Area races shows most districts, including Khanna's, rated safely Democratic, with challengers largely underfunded compared with well-established incumbents.
• Afghan wartime allies freed by the U.S. 25 years ago are now fearful and frustrated (ijpr.org) — Afghan refugees and longtime residents in Fremont's Little Kabul are increasingly anxious about their immigration status as Trump-era policies tighten vetting, pause Afghan cases, and boost ICE detentions. Local advocates now host regular "know-your-rights" trainings in Fremont and nearby cities, helping families who once aided U.S. forces navigate traffic stops, airport screenings, and stalled green card or reunification efforts.
