Breathtaking Flowers: Photos Of The Day

Have you visited California Nursery Historical Park? There's an 1830s adobe in addition to the amazing flowers.

FREMONT, CA — Beautiful flowers and history intermingle at California Nursery Historical Park in Fremont. It's the site of an 1830s adobe built by Jose de Jesus Vallejo. It's also the location of a commercial nursery that operated for more than 100 years. In fact, the nursery supplied the palm trees for the 1915 Pan Pacific International Exposition in San Francisco. There have been palm trees on this site since 1884.

Lani Lee shared 8 photos with Patch readers to get an idea of how special this place is. Lani is a volunteer at the park. She tells us, "This 21 acre park is owned by the city of Fremont. When you enter the park there are over 400 rose bushes located in the former demonstration garden and they are tended solely by volunteers. We are always looking for volunteers to help us on Thursday mornings. We also use volunteers in the Japanese garden and perennial garden."

California Nursery Historical Park is located at 36550 Niles Blvd., Fremont, 94536. Hours are 7 a.m. to 30 minutes past sunset. There's a museum that's open on Sundays from 1-4 p.m. A docent gives tours at 2 p.m.
