CACCC Receives $20K Gift from Chinese Cancer Memorial Foundation

San Jose CA – August 2, 2021 – The Chinese American Coalition for Compassionate Care (CACCC), is the first and only coalition in the U.S. devoted to end-of-life (EOL) concerns of the Chinese American community, received a $20,000 gift from the Chinese Cancer Memorial Foundation (CCMF) during a press conference held at Fortemedia in Santa Clara CA on June 26, 2021. CACCC was among four other honored South Bay nonprofits: Asian Liver Center, Stanford Medicine; Chinese Health Initiative at El Camino Health, Mountain View; Heart of Hope Asian American Hospice, San Jose and New Hope Chinese Cancer Care Foundation, Milpitas who also respectively received a $20,000 gift from CCMF. CCMF’s generous gift will support CACCC’s mission to build a community where Chinese Americans are able to face the end of life with dignity and respect. CACCC was formed in 2005 to address the lack of linguistically and culturally appropriate EOL information and training available to the Chinese community and the healthcare professionals who serve them.

“We wanted to acknowledge each organization for their compassionate work and recognize their steadfast dedication to their respective mission during a pandemic,” said CCMF board member Kitty Geiger and chairman Paul Huang, PhD.

“We are extremely honored to receive this generous $20,000 gift from the Chinese Cancer Memorial Foundation,” said Alex Tsao, board co-chair of CACCC. “This gift will allow us to continue our outreach efforts to the Chinese community, intergenerational family households, caregivers and the healthcare professionals who serve them.”

The Chinese Cancer Memorial Foundation (CCMF) – founded by Paul Huang, PhD in 1996 in memory of his late wife Daisy Ku Huang – originally named Daisy Ku Huang Memorial Foundation, was renamed to CCMF to embrace other families who had lost a loved one to cancer, as well as provide direct support to cancer patients and to other organizations providing support to cancer patients and their families in cancer prevention and end-of-life care.
