Carjacking Suspect Arrested In Fremont

The suspect sped away, a short distance from an elementary school.

FREMONT, CA — A simple argument escalated into a man being arrested for carjacking. Police have not released the name of the 20 year-old Fremont man who was booked into jail.

According to police reports, a man and woman got into an argument in the 3500 block Monmouth Place, near Grimmer Elementary School, at around 6 p.m. on Monday. Police say, "While the two are arguing, the 20 year old male jumps into the driver seat of the vehicle belonging to the female and takes off with her car. The female grabs the door and tries to hold on, but he speeds away."

He returned to argue some more, then sped off again just before police cars arrived.

He parked and ran into a residence on Philadelphia Place. When officers arrives, he came out and was arrested for carjacking.
