CarMax Opens in Fremont, Donates $15,000 to Charity
Local dignitaries and and CarMax's President & CEO attended the ribbon cutting in Fremont.

FREMONT, CA — The new CarMax dealership is open in Fremont and the company is already showing good community stewardship by donating $15,000 to charity. CarMax donated $5,000 to Abode Services, and the company's foundation, CarMax Foundation, gave a $10,000 grant to the YMCA of the East Bay.
“CarMax associates love to volunteer and build strong relationships with community partners where they live and work,” said Christina Kahn, location general manager of the Fremont CarMax. The CarMax Foundation has granted more than $30 million on behalf of associates across the country since 2003.
CarMax is located at 44100 Christy Street, just south of Pacific Commons.

The Fremont store can stock 300 used vehicles, and created 100 new jobs. Some positions remain open.
The Fremont store is one of two stores to open in the Bay Area this week, with the other location in Santa Rosa. The first Bay Area CarMax in opened in Pleasanton in May.

“With the opening of our second and third locations in the Bay Area, we look forward to providing more customers with the easy, no-haggle experience they’ve come to expect from CarMax,” said Kahn.

A ribbon cutting ceremony was held Tuesday. In attendance: Fremont Vice Mayor Rick Jones, CarMax LGM Christina Kahn, Fremont Mayor Bill Harrison, Council Members Lily Mei & Raj Salwan, and CarMax President & CEO Bill Nash.
