Coronavirus: Alameda County Cases Top 200

There were no additional deaths reported on Friday. A testing center in Hayward will be open this weekend, but closed on Monday.

CONTRA COSTA COUNTY — The number of coronavirus cases in Alameda County climbed over the 200 patient mark on Friday, with 204 total confirmed cases. The number of deaths held steady at four, according to the Alameda County Department of Public Health.

As of the noon hour on Friday, the U.S. has reported more than 1,300 deaths and more than 97,000 confirmed cases of coronavirus.

The City of Hayward reports that its popular testing center will now be open six days a week, closing on Mondays. The city also emphasized that it is abiding by a directive from the Alameda County Health Officer to limit testing to people with fever over 100 degrees and other symptoms of COVID-19 infection such as cough or shortness of breath.

In other developments, the Contra Costa County is expanding the number of hospital beds available there by using Pittsburg Health Center and Alhambra High School as "alternate care sites."
