Favorite Fremont Businesses That Have Closed
A simple question on Patch's Facebook page drew an outpouring of memories and longing for businesses that are no longer here.

FREMONT, CA — Over the weekend, Fremont Patch asked on our Facebook page, "If you could bring back one local business that closed in town (it doesn't matter how long ago), which would it be?"
The question struck a nerve, with more than 150 people offering their responses. While we asked for "one" business, some people provided entire lists of places. Many are restaurants, but retail stores and entertainment venues were also included.
Karen Brown-Wheeler narrowed it down to just one, "I personally miss Picnic (lunch spot by Kaiser on Civic Center). I know when the owner stepped away he felt it was the right time but it was one of our fave lunch places."

Many lists included Bob's Giant Burgers.
Remember Farrell’s Ice Cream? If you are a certain age and grew up in Fremont, you probably went to birthday parties there and miss the place.

Cloverdale Creamery was also beloved.
Several people also prefer browsing in bookstores instead of online and still pine for Barnes and Noble. One person also mentioned Half Price Books, but manager Emily Bruce assures Patch that the store is still operating in the Fremont Hub.
Also appearing on lists was Cloverleaf Bowl, along with Baylands Raceway and Roller World.
