Fremont Apartment Fire Blows Out Windows, Fire Officials Say
The intense blaze was reported in the 38000 block of Fremont Boulevard.

FREMONT, CA: A fire in a Fremont apartment Wednesday night burned so hot it blew out the unit's windows, Fremont's fire division chief said today. Firefighters received the first report of the fire at 9:20 p.m. in the 38800 block of Fremont Boulevard, a main road through Fremont, Fire Division Chief Diane Hendry said. The two-alarm fire was under control in 30 minutes, but not before it displaced seven and destroyed the apartment where it started. No one was injured.
"It grew in intensity quickly," Hendry said.
The intensity blew out the windows and melted the stove so investigators will not be able to tell what caused the fire. The resident of the unit told firefighters the fire appeared to have started in the stove, Hendry said. The fire caused moderate damage to two other apartments, leaving them uninhabitable. Only one resident needed help with temporary housing from the American Red Cross, the others found housing themselves.
