Fremont Firefighters Battle Raging Red Bank Fire

Firefighters from across the county are part of a strike team helping to battle the blaze in Tehama County.

FREMONT, CA — Firefighters from Fremont and across Alameda County have been deployed to help crews in Tehama County battle the Red Bank Fire that has now consumed more than 6,500 acres and is only 5 percent contained.

Overnight, Fremont firefighters deployed as part of a strike team with Alameda County, Berkeley, Hayward, Oakland and Livermore-Pleasanton firefighters.

The Red Bank Fire started Thursday and was caused by lightning, according to Cal Fire. The wildlands blaze is burning in a remote area, but mandatory evacuations are in place and multiple structures are threatened, according to the agency.
