Fremont Police Arrest 2 Suspects In Alleged Armed Robbery

Fremont police arrested two suspects in connection with an armed robbery after a pursuit and an area search Thursday afternoon.

FREMONT, CA - Fremont police arrested two suspects in connection with an armed robbery after a pursuit and an area search Thursday afternoon, police said.

The suspects allegedly committed a robbery at gunpoint in the northern part of Fremont at about 2 p.m. It was the third robbery police were called to in that part of town in about 20 minutes.

Witnesses told police the suspect fled in a white van. Another officer spotted a similar white van nearby and tried to pull the driver over, but the suspect fled, police said.

The officer pursued the van briefly until the driver stopped near Platt River Place, a small cul-de-sac off of Santee Road in the Northgate area. One of two male suspects in the van stayed behind and was detained while the other ran away and jumped over a fence, police said.

He was not identified, but officers said he was 16 years old.

Officers set up a perimeter and continued looking for the other suspect with the help of Newark police and the California Highway Patrol.

Around 11 p.m. they reported via Twitter that the second suspect was apprehended inside the search perimeter. He is 22 years old, according to police.
