Fremont Police Officer Who Fatally Shot Suspect ID'd
The shooting is being investigated by the California Highway Patrol.

FREMONT, CA — The Fremont Police Department on Wednesday released the name of the police officer who shot and killed an armed robbery suspect on March 24.
Officer Brian Burch is a six year veteran of the department who is currently assigned to the Traffic Unit.
The suspect killed in the shooting has been identified as Joshua James Gloria, 34, of Oakland.

The shooting happened in the area of Highway 84 and Ardenwood Boulevard, in the jurisdiction of the California Highway Patrol. An update on the investigation is not immediately available.

The day of the shooting, the CHP said in a news release that the shooting happened "following a pursuit that ended on eastbound SR-84, west of Newark Boulevard. The vehicle being pursued had been reported stolen and was associated with an armed robbery. The suspect, who was in possession of a firearm at the time of the incident, sustained fatal injuries."
