Grass Fire Threatened Homes In Fremont Sunday Night
All evacuation orders have been lifted. Mission Boulevard has reopened.

FREMONT, CA — Some homes were evacuated in the Fremont Hills Sunday night as a wildfire raced through bone-dry vegetation after a day of high temperatures and gusty winds. Firefighters successfully battled the flames — no homes were lost and no injuries were reported. Around 1 a.m. Monday, the police department reported that all evacuations had been lifted and Mission Boulevard, which had been closed, was fully reopened.
The most recent estimate from Cal Fire is that at least 15 acres burned. The fire burned east of Mission Boulevard, near Nichols Avenue. "The fire is currently limited to vegetation," the police department reported via Nixle just after 11 p.m.
The fire was reported around 10 p.m.
