K9 Tracks Pair Who Flee From Fremont Police

They hit at least 2 vehicles and tossed paperwork from the car window as it went down the street, police say.

FREMONT, CA — A man and woman were arrested in Fremont on Sunday after fleeing from a traffic stop and being involved in at least two hit-and-runs, police said.

An officer tried to stop a red Camaro near the Five Corners area in the Irvington neighborhood around 4:10 p.m. but the driver fled south on Fremont Boulevard while discarding paperwork from the car, according to
police.

The suspect vehicle was involved in at least two hit-and-runs while fleeing from officers, and shortly afterward a witness reported t hat the vehicle was parked near Bob's Foam Factory on Pestana Place and two
people were running away from it.

Shortly after 4:35 p.m., a police K-9 was used to search for the suspects and within minutes found a male suspect hiding behind a car in a nearby parking lot, police said.

A second suspect was hiding in the bathroom of a nearby business and eventually surrendered.

The suspects, a 30-year-old man from Newark and a 30-year-old woman from Manteca, were arrested on suspicion of evading police, hit-and-run, probation violation and fraud, among other offenses, police said.

Their names were not immediately released.Investigators are also following up on potential identity theft
material found in the vehicle.
