Large Bobcat Spotted In Fremont, Police Say

Authorities asked the public to be on the lookout Sunday after residents spotted a "large bobcat" crossing a Fremont street.

FREMONT, CA — Authorities asked the public to be on the lookout Sunday after residents spotted a "large bobcat" crossing a Fremont street.

The big cat, identified as a bobcat after a review of photos taken by a resident, was seen crossing Mission Boulevard near Paseo Padre Parkway, Fremont police said. Bobcat sightings are common in the Mission Hills area, including several recent sightings, but authorities still asked the public to remain alert.

Those who live along the hills east of Mission Boulevard are advised to keep pets indoors and make yards less appealing by bringing in pet food and securing other small animals in pens and cages, police said.
