Mayor Lily Mei has taken campaign contributions from developers, corporations, PACs, and special interest groups, according to her Form 460 filing.

This includes donations from developers or their owners and proxies, such as: Land D Development Inc, Stanley Woo of Real Estate Silverstate Development Corp, Dennnis Chen of Logos Property LLC, HNTB PAC, Chek Tang of Studio T, and many more.

Note that the relevant filing is nested under “Lily Mei for Fremont Mayor 2016” with the Filing Date being 09/24/2020. (For a period of time, this filing was not publicly available from the City of Fremont. The Form 460 was only released after Lily Mei's challenger, Justin Sha, took great pains and wrote many emails, including a statement that he would report the City to state authorities if Lily Mei’s filing was not released.)

“It appears that Lily Mei’s 2020 Form 460 filing has discrepancies and problematic elements,” provides Justin Sha, a candidate for Fremont Mayor. “Moreover, there is a serious question about the influence of special money interests in Fremont. On September 13, 2020, Chinese developers and special interests hosted a special fundraiser for Lily Mei. But on September 23, 2020, Lily Mei lied to the public, stating that she does not take money from developers during a mayoral forum. Why did she lie?”

On September 13, 2020, Chinese developers and special interests organized a special fundraiser for Lily Mei. These organizers had ties to real estate and developer interests, and the event was covered by the Chinese-language newspaper, the Enoch Times. https://tinyurl.com/chinesedevelopersforlilymei

On September 23, 2020, after RECEIVING contributions from developers and special interests, Lily Mei claimed that she has not taken any money from developers.

In other words, between September 13 and September 23, despite the fact that Lily Mei took money from developers and cashed those contributions in, she lied to the public and denied taking money from developers.

It is important to note that Lily Mei has also received a maximum contribution from Chek Tang of Studio T, chief architect of the Henkel/Niles Gateway Development project. This project is PENDING: the developer has strategically postponed putting the project before the city until after the 2020 election. This project will be voted on by the Planning Commission and subsequently the next Mayor of the City of Fremont.

Lily Mei is also endorsed by the Bay East Realtors PAC and the Building & Construction Trades Union.

Fremont voters need to ask themselves: What did Lily Mei promise Fremont in 2016, and did she deliver on those promises? Has Fremont gotten better over these last 4 years?

Justin Sha is the viable alternative choice to Lily Mei. He is running a clean-money, people-powered campaign focused on important issues such as this. You can count on Justin to champion the issues that Fremont residents care most about. In the political climate of 2020, vote for your principles and your conscience this November 3rd.
