Norteño Gangmembers Tied To Deadly Fremont Shooting: Report
Court records reveal new details about what happened prior to the fatal shooting on Feb. 3, according to a report from the East Bay Times.
FREMONT, CA — At least two people with ties to a Mexican gang have been charged in connection with a shooting in Fremont in February that left a man dead, according to a report from the East Bay Times.
San Francisco resident Ricardo Duran, 42, and Kaleb Soto, 18, are accused of gunning down Fernando Campos-Diaz near a 7-Eleven in the area of Central Avenue and Joseph Street on the afternoon of Feb. 3, according to the report, which cited court records.
The suspects, members of the Decoto gang, a Norteño subset in Union City, ran into Campos-Diaz and two other members of a rival set, prompting a fight amongst them, according to the report.

The fight appeared to be fair until the Decoto side started to lose. That's when Duran told his crew to get a gun, according to the report.
Soto grabbed a gun, and when Campos-Diaz began to run away, the 18-year-old followed and gunned him down, according to the report.

Police found a wounded Campos-Diaz near the 7-Eleven around 4:20 p.m. Despite efforts by emergency personnel, Campos-Diaz died from his wounds, authorities said.
