Person Killed In Fremont Shooting: Police

The shooting took place Tuesday afternoon in the area of Central Avenue and Joseph Street, police said.

FREMONT, CA — Police say they're investigating a shooting in Fremont on Tuesday afternoon that left one person dead.

Few details about what led up to the shooting were still available on Wednesday morning. Officers responded just before 4:20 p.m. to the area of Central Avenue and Joseph Street after multiple reports of a shooting, according to the Fremont Police Department.

The officers quickly arrived at the scene and found one person who had been shot lying on the ground in the area, according to authorities. That person later died from their injuries, police added.

Police did not immediately release the identity of the person killed and did not answer any questions from Patch about the person's pronouns or a motive for the shooting.

This is the second homicide in Fremont so far this year. Earlier this year, a 93-year-old man shot and killed his wife in Fremont, telling officers that she was dealing with health issues.
