Wrong Way Driver Killed In Fremont Crash

FREMONT, CA —A wrong-way driver was killed in Fremont on Tuesday night in a head-on collision that also injured another driver on state Highway 84, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Around 10:25 p.m., the man was driving a 2007 Mazda north in the southbound lanes of Highway 84, north of Thornton Avenue, and struck a 2013 GMC head-on.

The Mazda driver, identified as a 43-year-old man from Santa Clara, died at the scene. The other driver, a 35-year-old woman from Hayward, was transported to a hospital with minor injuries, according to the CHP.
