Pop-Up Library Opening In Fremont

The new pop-up library will provide books and iPads for checkout at the Fremont Family Resource Center.

FREMONT, CA — A pop-up library is opening at the Fremont Family Resource Center. A celebration will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 18, from 2 – 3:30 p.m.

The pop-up library is a collaboration of Alameda County Library and Fremont Family Resource Center. The Pop Up Library Services for Everyone, or P.U.L.S.E., connects families with a book lending kiosk filled with hundreds of books that they can borrow. Books to satisfy children, teens, and adults are included.

The Fremont Family Resource Center is a collaborative of more than 25 City, County, State, and non-profit agencies that provide a host of services to support families facing stressful or challenging situations. In addition to the book lending kiosk through P.U.L.S.E., the Library will also provide iPads loaded with early literacy and educational apps for children.

“It’s our mission to give everyone the chance to succeed and become a life-long learner. That’s why we put books, technology, and education into the hands of the diverse communities we serve and meet them where they are,” said Cindy Chadwick, County Librarian.

“We are so happy to be partnering with the Library in this way. Fremont FRC staff and clients alike have expressed excitement over the pending arrival of the P.U.L.S.E. kiosk,” commented Judy Schwartz, Administrator of the Fremont Family Resource Center.
