FREMONT, CA - A 44-year-old man was arrested Monday in Fremont on suspicion of DUI, hit-and-run and violating probation after the SUV he was driving collided with two vehicles and crashed into a wall, police said.

Fremont resident Albert Rivera was arrested for an incident that began shortly after 8:50 p.m. Monday when he was driving a Ford Explorer south on Paseo Padre Parkway near Stevenson Boulevard and got into a collision.

Rivera allegedly kept going south on Paseo Padre Parkway to Grimmer Boulevard, where his Ford struck another vehicle.

Officers arrived and determined that Rivera was intoxicated.

He was on probation for a prior DUI offense, Fremont police spokeswoman Geneva Bosques said.

Rivera was taken to a hospital and then was booked into the county jail.

A person in one of the other vehicles involved in the hit-and-runs complained of pain.

Rivera's Ford sustained major damage, Bosques said.

All southbound lanes of Paseo Padre Parkway between Grimmer Boulevard and Gomes Road were closed until about midnight.
