An infant was in the getaway car stopped by police, who also found a loaded gun and large capacity magazine stashed near the baby, FPD says.

FREMONT, CA — A group of suspects threatened to kill store employees in Fremont Monday evening when they were confronted about stealing from the store, according to Fremont Police. The suspects got away but were caught a short time later. In the back seat of their getaway car was an infant, and stashed in a diaper bag next to the baby was a loaded handgun that had been converted into a fully automatic weapon, and a large capacity magazine. Two adults were arrested, a juvenile was released to her guardian and the infant was taken into protective custody by Child Protective Services.
The store happened happened in the 43700 block of Christy Street shortly after 6:30 p.m. A witness noted the license plate of the suspect vehicle and it was also captured on community cameras. Police ran the plates and learned that the vehicle was registered to a Hayward address.
Several Fremont patrol officers responded to the area and set up on northbound I-880. The vehicle was located traveling northbound and followed, until it exited onto Fremont Boulevard. "Once sufficient patrol units caught up, a high risk felony traffic stop was conducted on Fremont Boulevard in the area of Lucky’s/Motel 6," police said in a report.
