Sunol Regional Wilderness Fire Burns 30 Acres

The fire started Saturday night around 8 p.m. near the designated wilderness area.

ALAMEDA COUNTY, CA --The Sunol Fire currently burning near the Sunol Regional Wilderness in unincorporated Alameda County is now 75 percent contained, according to Cal Fire. It has burned at least 30 acres but is no longer threatening structures.

The fire started Saturday night around 8 p.m. near the designated wilderness area, fire officials said. The blaze is located near the east end of Welch Creek Road near Apperson Ridge just outside the Sunol Regional
Wilderness.

The fire is in an area of grassland and shrubs, where a few homes sit in hilly country.
