The MTC focuses on transit issues within all nine counties that make up the Bay Area.

ALAMEDA COUNTY, CA — Alameda County Supervisor Scott Haggerty is taking the lead at the Metropolitan Transportation Commission for a second time, officials announced Thursday.

The commission's 19 voting members elected Haggerty as chair Wednesday, according to a news release from the MTC. He replaces Rohnert Park City Councilman Jake Mackenzie.

Haggerty previously served as chair from 2009 to 2011, and has been vice-chair since 2017. He's been on the commission since 2000, and was elected to the Alameda County Board of Supervisors in 1996.
